About Deputy Mayor
Matthew Norris
"I'm Matthew Norris. I'm 33 years old and I’ve lived in the Shoalhaven my entire life. I’m running for re-election to the Shoalhaven City Council.
I went to school locally, starting at Bomaderry Public and finishing primary school at St. Michaels. I completed my HSC at St. John the Evangelist High School. Working in a variety of small locally-owned businesses has given me an insight into how our Council can help businesses grow and create jobs - keeping locals employed and our community thriving.
Serving on the Council has provided me with hands-on experience in making our community's voice heard and ensuring that our Council's actions reflect the needs of our residents.
Volunteering with the Nowra Community Sailing Club has given me valuable insights into how our community assets can be better utilised to encourage community groups to get out and enjoy the Shoalhaven.
It is my strong belief that our Council should engage and work collaboratively with residents to achieve a fair and balanced approach to city planning, maximise the use of community assets, and encourage businesses to develop and grow locally. If re-elected, I will continue to be a forceful yet considered representative for everyone in the Shoalhaven community.
I’ll continue to bring fresh ideas and help make Council a more collaborative organisation where everyone is heard and respected."
